MKEC is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer for its MEP group located in our Wichita, Kansas office. This position will work with a team of engineers and designers to design HVAC and plumbing systems in building environments for various clients of MKEC. Our ideal candidate is typically a self-motivated individual who thrives on helping clients and has a technical background. They will lead mechanical design in all phases of their projects.

Desired Experience:

    • 5-7+ years of experience
    • PE Certificate
    • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
    • Experience in MEP Design and Consulting Engineering
    • Ensure adherence to industry standards and building codes.

The position is responsible for designing the heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and plumbing systems for the purpose of bidding and construction for various projects. Additional duties of the position are as follows:

    • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated responses
    • Provide design efforts in compliance with applicable codes, including the IMC, IPC, IBC, IECC, and NFPA
    • Research, evaluate, design, and specify mechanical products, equipment, systems, and processes to meet requirements, apply knowledge of engineering principles
    • Provide plumbing design including, but not limited to, domestic hot and cold water, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, natural gas, compressed gas, and medical gas
    • Provide guidance to staff engineers and drafters as to the appropriate designs to be implemented in various projects and how to troubleshoot customer issues
    • Confer with other engineers and other personnel to implement operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information
    • Analyze and communicate feasibility, cost, energy efficiency, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications
    • Attend meetings with owners, clients, or architects as needed
    • Prepare proposals for potential projects
    • Review contractor submittals (shop drawings, etc.) to determine conformance with contract documents.
